It officially becomes the first private carrier in Vietnam to operate wide-body aircraft.

The 787-9 Dreamliner will initially be operated on Bamboo Airways’ domestic routes such as Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang. It will then be the main aircraft exploiting medium and long-haul routes to Asia, Europe, and the US, connecting countries such as Japan, South Korea, the Czech Republic, and Australia.

Mr. Dang Tat Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of Bamboo Airways, said the new Dreamliner meets Bamboo Airways’ five-star service requirements and is suitable for the long-haul routes the carrier is building, including transcontinental routes.

The Dreamliner is the world’s most fuel-efficient aircraft, with many advanced technologies applied to minimize weight.

Compared to similar aircraft, it consumes 20 per cent less fuel and has 30-40 per cent less maintenance costs.

The cabin of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is designed to provide maximum comfort for passengers, with more space, a lighting system using LED technology, and humidity and pressure control in the cabin.

Bamboo Airways has signed an agreement to buy 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with a total listed value of $5.6 billion.

The continuous receipt of new aircraft, abundant in quantity and quality standards, plays a key role in bringing Bamboo Airways closer to its goal of providing five-star service on every flight, becoming an airline of international stature.

Acquiring its new fleet helps Bamboo Airways strengthen its resources to connect domestic tourism with international markets. In the long term, this will help improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese airlines in the international market, contributing to the effective exploitation of existing aviation infrastructure system, thereby promoting investment, enhancing exchanges, and promoting international economic integration.

Bamboo Airways is currently exploiting 28 domestic and international routes. It plans to expand its network to 37-40 routes by the end of 2019, including regular international routes to South Korea and Taiwan (China) and Southeast Asia.

It has operated more than 14,000 flights with an average load factor of 90 per cent and an on-time performance (OTP) of 93.9 per cent from January to September; the highest in Vietnam’s aviation sector. Dtinews
