Ba Ria - Vung Tau is set to build a state-of-the-art marine science and technology hub spanning 10.23 hectares in Vung Tau City’s Ward 12, near Co May Bridge. The project aims to enhance scientific and technological infrastructure to support the province’s marine economy.

The provincial People's Committee recently convened to review the investment plan for the project, which is expected to be completed and operational by 2030. The estimated cost is approximately VND 390 billion ($15.6 million).

According to the provincial Department of Science and Technology, the facility will include a research and development center, a high-tech training academy, an advanced technology production and testing center, and support infrastructure.

The hub will focus on key industries such as offshore wind energy, hydrogen power, petrochemicals, semiconductors, information and communication technology, and biotechnology.

Since the project involves land use, it falls under regulations requiring a competitive bidding process to select an investor. The selected investor will receive a land lease exemption during the construction phase, capped at three years.

To ensure the project progresses smoothly, Vice Chairman of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee Dang Minh Thong has directed the Department of Science and Technology to finalize investment details, engage with potential investors, and coordinate closely with local authorities to secure the project site and determine the best implementation model.
