VietNamNet Bridge - After some passengers complained about the high prices of food at airports, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has requested related agencies to report on the price of products and services at airports and deal with problems.

In a press release, ACV, which runs 22 airports, including nine international airports, said that for non-aviation services, ACV leases the space and transfers the rights of business to other companies.
"The companies provide non-aviation services at the airports have to commit to obey the provisions of the law, comply with security rules and safety characteristics of the aviation sector. Also, to ensure food safety, the service providers must comply with the processes of price control, quality control, and the management of food safety and hygiene in the issued regulations,” the announcement said.
"Non-aviation services at the airports are basically good. Many service providers at the airports are members of the price stabilization program of the local Departments of Trade and Industry. Yet, in addition to high quality products with reasonable price, there are a number of services and goods (mainly food services) fail to meet requirements of the consumer," admitted ACV.
To rectify this situation, ACV has asked the relevant agencies to report about prices and quality of products and address shortcomings in the provision of services (including price, product quality and service attitude).
ACV promised to strictly monitor the operations of service providers at the airports to ensure that products provided for passengers to be of high quality and with reasonable price, the press release said.
Some passengers recently complained about poor service quality and high prices for food at restaurants in the Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang international airports. Soon after, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam requested relevant bodies to rectify this. Tan Son Nhat Airport has changed menus and prices after that.
