A recently signed document by the Chairman of Tra Vinh People's Committee has requested that all government employees be informed of a proposal to merge Ben Tre, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh provinces into a new province named Vinh Long.

Today, leaders of the Tra Vinh People's Committee confirmed to the press the existence of an official document referring to the implementation of Conclusion 130/2025 by the Politburo and Official Dispatch 079/2025 from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The proposal involves merging the three provinces of Ben Tre, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh into one new province called Vinh Long.

The dispatch, numbered 1745 and signed on April 3 by Chairman Le Van Han of the Tra Vinh People's Committee, was sent to relevant agencies and departments throughout the province.

It urgently requests a report on the number and list of civil servants, public employees, and officials who are retiring on schedule, taking early retirement, or resigning under government policy.

The document also instructs departments, agencies, districts, towns, and cities to inform all relevant personnel - including those at the commune level - about the plan to merge Ben Tre, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh into a new province to be named Vinh Long, with its political-administrative center located in Vinh Long City.

Additionally, the dispatch states that no changes will be made to district-level administrative units, and that any commune-level mergers will be carried out according to central government regulations.

The Tra Vinh People's Committee has asked heads of agencies and organizations across the province to promptly inform their staff about this situation, so that they may make appropriate personal decisions - such as early retirement, resignation, or continued service.

These decisions are to align with the broader goal of restructuring and improving the quality of the public workforce, with a focus on encouraging and retaining qualified and capable personnel for long-term service in the development of the province and the country.
