VietNamNet Bridge – The Community Integration and Development Foundation (CIDEFO) in conjunction with the artists of the HCMC Arts Association last Saturday held Xuan yeu thuong (Spring of Affection) at the City Exhibition Hall in District 1.

The charity painting exhibition attracted Uyen Huy, Nguyen Thi Tam, Cao Thi Duoc, Tran Thuy Linh, Truong Lo, Ngo Thai Thu, Nguyen Nhu Khoi, and Nguyen Dieu Thuy who exhibited and donated their creations to raise funds for poor children in Thanh An Commune in HCMC’s Can Gio District and for former prisoners who live there, to enjoy a new year. At the opening day, the organizers sold 25 of 38 works.

All the paintings feature themes of spring, natural landscapes and family activities. Eight artists donated one piece of their painting collection to the program and the money from selling this piece will go straight to the foundation.

Furthermore, fifty percent of money raised from selling the rest of their collections will also be contributed.

“Everybody is waiting for Tet (Lunar New Year) to reunite with their families. However, there are homeless kids and orphans who have no one to share with them this special occasion. The CIDEFO and all eight artists hope to bring happiness to these children and to care for former prisoners to have a warm spring,” said Tran Van Tao, lawyer/chairman of CIDEFO at the event.

The exhibition is the first event of CIDEFO in 2013. The foundation was established upon the advanced basis of the Rehabilitation Fund to help former prisoners to rejoin the society as well as expanding its target to support poor families and individuals, orphans to have a fulfilled life.

The organizers are expected to grant the donations on February 1 (the 21st day of the lunar December).

The exhibition runs until Saturday at the City Exhibition Hall at 92 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1.
