Two projects completed by Vo Trong Nghia Architects, including Nocenco Café in Vinh city, along with the Chicland Hotel in Da Nang, have been granted some of the leading awards at the Architecture MasterPrize 2020 (AMP).
The Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) aims to honour designs in the fields of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture, with the primary goal being to boost interest in architecture worldwide. Based in Vinh city of Nghe An province, Nocenco Café wins the Interior Design of the Year prize.
The site designed by architect Vo Trong Nghia includes a top-floor café and roof top club. The biggest challenge in terms of design was to create an impact on the building by inserting a fresh structure, all whilst making use of unique and local materials.
Bamboo is easily accessible amid a tropical climate, which serves to reduce both the construction time and budget.
In this project, the purpose of utilising bamboo is “lightness”, with just a few workers able to lift the material, along with the ease in which it can be transported to the highest floor by crane.
Chicland Hotel designed by Vo Trong Nghia Architects claims the Hospitality Architecture award.
Situated on My Khe beach, the hotel is a resort built to accommodate guests so they can feel the light from the sun, wind, and fresh air being blown in from the sea.
As the winner of the Hospitality Architecture category, the structure features 153 rooms over 21 floors, all of which is covered by three vertical green facades which form a small forest.
The green hotel features an eye-catching design and is vastly different from the surrounding buildings whilst being friendly to nature.
Due to the greenery facade, each room enjoys a nice view and creates a microclimate for the building.
