Based on previous surveys, the two provinces agreed to open the Na Bung – Lao Phu Chai auxiliary border gate, as it satisfies socio-economic conditions and security-defence requirements of both localities in accordance with the Vietnam-Laos agreement on national border management.
Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said the opening of the border gate will facilitate cross-border trade, thus boosting the two sides’ socio-economic development.
Over the past years, Dien Bien and Phongsaly have strictly complied with the Vietnam-Laos Agreement on National Border Regulations and ensured security and social order in the border areas.
They have planted 119 out of 125 planned border markers so far while continuing to raise their people’s responsibility towards a common borderline and border marker protection.
