A magnificent 80-year-old yellow apricot tree, standing proudly in the courtyard of a 200-year-old wooden house, has become a viral sensation on social media.

Located in Loc Yen ancient village, Quang Nam, the tree’s vibrant blossoms contrast beautifully against the moss-covered home, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia and admiration.

A hidden gem in the heart of Quang Nam

Loc Yen, a historic village in Tien Canh Commune, Tien Phuoc District, is one of Vietnam’s four officially recognized national heritage villages.

Established in the 15th-16th century, the village is known for its traditional wooden houses, stone pathways, and lush fruit gardens, preserving its cultural essence for over seven generations.

At the heart of this village is the home of Dong Viet Mao, one of the eight remaining ancient houses built entirely of rare forest jackfruit wood. Constructed over four years with hundreds of cubic meters of jackfruit wood, the house has stood the test of time, maintaining its original beauty and historical significance.

The apricot tree that stole the spotlight

Photographer Le Ba Lan, a native of Quang Nam, captured the breathtaking image of the ancient apricot tree in full bloom during his visit on February 17, 2025 (the 20th day of the Lunar New Year).

Due to the unusually cold and rainy weather this year, the apricot tree bloomed later than usual, making the sight even more special.

The majestic tree, with its bright yellow blossoms, has become a symbol of longevity and heritage. Many visitors have described it as a reminder of childhood and the timeless beauty of the Vietnamese countryside.

The house’s owner, Dong Viet Mao, considers both the house and the apricot tree irreplaceable family heirlooms. Despite multiple offers from collectors and nature enthusiasts, he has steadfastly refused to sell.

The tree’s beauty continues to attract visitors, many of whom have traveled just to witness the golden petals blanketing the courtyard like a natural carpet.

The stone steps leading to the house, covered in moss, add to the nostalgic atmosphere, making it a dreamlike setting for photographers and history lovers alike.

As the last blossoms begin to fall, the sight of golden petals scattered across the ground remains a poetic reminder of the village’s enduring charm and connection to Vietnam’s past.
