The coach of the tennis team of Binh Duong province - Tran Duc Quynh – said that Tran Van Hoa stayed in a room on the third floor of the hotel in Bangkok. At around 4pm on March 11, Hoa saw his socks that were drying on the balcony blew off by wind so he climbed out to the tile roof to pick them up. Suddenly the roof collapsed and the man fell down to the second floor.

Seeing his teammate’s incident, player Nguyen Tuan Anh, who shared the same room with Hoa, called others to help. Coach Tran Duc Quynh and the other players quickly called an ambulance to take Hoa to the Rayong Hospital in Bangkok.

After examination, doctors concluded that the joint of the left hand of Hoa was cracked and dislocated. This player will have to rest for at least 6 weeks from now. "At that time I thought Hoa was dead," coach Tran Duc Quynh said.

Tran Van Hoa, 18, from Bac Ninh has recently joined Binh Duong team. The team went to Thailand for training on March 1. The team returned to HCM City on March 13.

"This is an accident but it is also a lesson for Vietnamese athletes. They must be aware of protecting themselves to prevent any situation of uncertainty," coach Tran Duc Quynh said.
