This is the third time this year that an incident has occurred on the AAG submarine cable. "At the moment, the international partner has not informed network operators in Vietnam about the repair plan," one Internet Service Provider (ISP) told VietNamNet on October 26.

The new incident on the AAG submarine cable occurred on October 22, only 12 days after the previous error was fixed. Such incidents have seriously affected the Internet speed in Vietnam.

Officially put into operation more than 11 years ago, AAG is an undersea fiber optic cable with a length of 20,191 km, connecting Southeast Asia with the US. This cable runs through Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Hong Kong (China), the Philippines and the US (Guam, Hawaii and California).

Despite frequent incidents, AAG is still used by many domestic ISPs. This is why every time the cable has a problem, Internet service quality in Vietnam gets worse.

The two previous incidents this year were reported on June 22 and July 19 on the S1H branch.

Besides the incident on the AAG, the Asia Africa Europe 1 (AAE-1) submarine cable also has had errors which have not been fixed yet. The cable has broken twice this year, on September 4 and 9. It is expected that repair will be completed in November.

Internet speed expected to improve after AAE-1 submarine cable is fixed in mid-Nov
