Many old villas harmoniously combining French and Vietnamese architecture still exist in Cuu village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Phu Xuyen.
Not many modern houses are seen in the village. The ancient villas feature French Gothic and ancient Vietnamese architecture. According to Cuu village leaders, the 500-year old village worships a general of Tran dynasty. The village gate is considered the most beautiful in Vietnam, according to researchers. There exist around 20 ancient villas. Dozens of the old villas were seriously damaged during the 2000s and rebuilt into modern ones. |
