VietNamNet Bridge – The national tournament for the country’s elite taekwondo clubs, known as the 2012 Republic of Korea’s (RoK) Ambassador’s Cup, will be held in Hanoi from December 15–22.

The tournament, marking 20 years of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties, will feature 500 athletes representing 59 clubs from all over the country.

Martial artists will compete in 32 combat event categories and 13 demonstration event categories.

The combat events divide athletes into two age groups. The 13–16-year-old group will be considered for further training in anticipation of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and 2019 Asian Games campaigns.

Athletes aged 17-years-old and above are hoping for 2013 SEA Games and 2014 ASIAD national squad selections.

The Vietnam branch of the Korean Cultural Centre has invited Kukkiwon taekwondo team to perform in the tournament’s opening ceremony. A team from Keimyung University will hold a friendly match with Vietnamese athletes for the closing ceremony.
