Celebrating the essence of ao dai
The competition, held for the first time, aimed to honor the cultural significance of the ao dai, Vietnam’s traditional attire. The finale featured segments showcasing ao dai, evening gowns, and an interview round.
The judging panel included distinguished figures such as People’s Artist Tran Nhuong, Meritorious Artist Quach Thu Phuong, and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022, Ngoc Chau.
From 30 contestants, the top three finalists were Ha Hong Gam, Hoang Chau Anh, and Do Thu Hien. Ultimately, Hoang Chau Anh claimed the crown with her poise, grace, and cultural insight.
A heartfelt tribute to the ao dai
In the Q&A round, Chau Anh was asked by judge Ngoc Chau about the enduring value of the ao dai.
She eloquently responded, highlighting two key reasons for the garment’s lasting significance:
“Firstly, the ao dai is not just attire but a cultural symbol that celebrates the beauty and spirit of Vietnamese women - gentle yet resilient. Secondly, the ao dai evolves with time while preserving its essence.
For me, the ao dai embodies the soul of our nation. Every time I wear it, I feel the beauty of our culture and a deep sense of responsibility to preserve and promote its values.”
The new queen and her accolades
Hoang Chau Anh also won the Miss Talent and Best Interview awards, further cementing her status as a standout competitor.
Currently a student at Hanoi Foreign Trade University, Chau Anh impressed judges and audiences from the preliminary rounds with her striking modern beauty, 1.73m height, and strong potential for international pageants.
The first runner-up title went to Do Thu Hien, while Ha Hong Gam was named second runner-up. The third and fourth runner-up titles were awarded to Nguyen Thi Thao and Le Thi Ngoc Lan, respectively.
As Miss Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage 2024, Chau Anh will represent Vietnam at the Miss Tourism World 2025, which Vietnam will host.
In addition to the crown, she received a prize worth VND 500 million (approximately USD 20,700).
