VietNamNet Bridge – Malaysian police on July 1 arrested 39 foreign women, including 18 Vietnamese nationals, believed to be involved in prostitution, Malaysia’s National News Agency Bernama reported.

Police raided a cafe in Jalan Pudu, a major road in capital Kuala Lumpur, detaining 20 nationals from China, 18 from Vietnam and one from Myanmar.

All the women have travel documents and they are under investigation by the Immigration Department, said Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad.

They are being detained at Dang Wangi police headquarters for further investigation.

Bernama also reported that the Bukit Aman Anti- Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants on July 1 rescued 51 illegal foreign women, including 40 Vietnamese nationals, in an operation in Malacca State.

Head of the operation DSP Kamal Khan Mohd Shariff said the women were made guest relations officers at two entertainment outlets in Malim Jaya.

He said police also detained seven people comprising two local men and a local woman, an Indonesian woman, a female Chinese national, a Vietnamese woman and a Bangladeshi man to help with investigation.
