
On April 1, the Vinh Long Provincial Criminal Investigation Agency confirmed the emergency arrest of Huynh Tan Tai (16), a resident of Hung Khanh Trung B Commune, Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province, on suspicion of murder.
Tai is the primary suspect in the brutal killing of two family members at their home in Tam Binh Town.
According to initial reports, police were alerted on the morning of March 31 to the discovery of two deceased individuals at a residence in My Phu 5 quarter, Tam Binh Town.
The victims were identified as Ms. N.T.T.H. (65 years old) and her son, Mr. T.Q. (47 years old).
Upon examining the crime scene, investigators determined the case to be exceptionally serious. The provincial police directorate promptly assigned the Criminal Investigation Division to work with related units to launch an urgent manhunt and probe into the case.
Preliminary findings pointed to Huynh Tan Tai as a suspect. He was subsequently apprehended in Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province.
During questioning, Tai reportedly admitted to killing Ms. H. and Mr. Q. before fleeing the scene. Authorities confirmed that Tai had known Mr. Q. and had been visiting the victims’ home prior to the crime.
At the time of arrest, police recovered over VND 40 million (approx. USD 1,630) and a mobile phone in Tai’s possession.
