The winner of Vietlott’s Jackpot 1 prize worth up to VND303.89 billion (USD13 million) has not come to the company to receive the money.
The Vietlott lottery stall owned by Tran Manh Cuong on Vu Huu Street, Hanoi
The Vietnam Lottery Company (Vietlott) confirmed the winner of the huge Jackpot 1 of Power 6/55 in a draw on May 5. This is viewed as the largest prize in Vietnamese lottery history. The ticket held by the winner, a resident in Hanoi, matched the number 16-32-33-37-40-48.
This is the first winner of Jackpot 1 since its debut in August 2017.
The winner bought the lottery at a stall owned by Tran Manh Cuong on Vu Huu Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi.
Cuong said that the prize is so big, so the owner may wait for public interest to die down before they claim their prize.
Meanwhile, Cuong’s wife agreed on this, saying that customers at their stall always know whether they are a winner or not as they have to check the results. According to the couple, following the information about the prize, more and more customers had come to their stall.
However several people expressed their doubt about the prize, saying that this could be a PR trick by Vietlott.
A representative from Vietlott said no one has come to the company’s branch which manages the lottery stall where he/she bought to confirm to be the winner of the USD13-million prize. He guessed that the winner may think of the way to receive the prize confidentially.
In case, the winner does not receive the prize for 60 days, the entire money will be confiscated for the state budget.
The representative added that last year, Vietlott’s Jackpkot prizes, VND105 billion and VND38 billion, which were not received by their winner were given to the state budget.
In 2017, Vietlott made post-tax profits of VND216.7 billion.
