VietNamNet Bridge – Ten outstanding young Hanoians were honoured in a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Ly Thai To Statue in Hoan Kiem District.

This is the 10th year the Hanoi’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has honoured outstanding young people who have recorded special achievements.

Footballer Nguyen Quang Hai, 21, member of Ha Noi Football Club, was one of the 10. He won the Golden Ball in 2018 and the best footballer of the AFF Cup Championship.

Another athlete that was honoured was weightlifter Lai Gia Thanh, 20, from the Ha Noi Sport and Physical Training and Competition Centre. He won several gold and silver medals at world, Asian and national championships.

In studying and scientific research, Phan Ngoc Huyen, 35, senior lecturer of the History Faculty of the Ha Noi National University of Education was recongised, for becoming the university’s youngest associate professor in 2018.

One more brilliant face is Tran Bao Duy, 12, a student of the Ha Noi Star Primary and Junior Secondary School in Thanh Xuan District. He won several gold medals in maths at different Olympiad competitions at the world and Asian level.

Pham Duc Anh, 19, a first-year student of the Ha Noi Medical University, received the third class Labour Medal and certificates of merit from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, from Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. He won gold medals at the International Chemistry Olympiads 2017 and 2018.

In national defence and security, major Le Trong Hieu, 35, head of the Police Department for the Investigation of Social Order under Dong Da District Police, was honoured for his achievements in the cause of protecting the nation. He received certificates of merit from the Minister of Public Security To Lam for his excellent contribution in the movement of ‘For the national security’ in 2016-17.

A good example in economic development, Dang Xuan Truong, 28, director of the Hachi Hi-tech Agriculture Company, attended the global summit in Hydrabad in India.

His company is recognised as the best in northern area for setting up farms and planting clean vegetables with high-tech methods.

Speaking at the honour ceremony, deputy secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Dao Duc Toan, expressed his belief that young people of the capital would uphold their strength and ambition.

Toan asked municipal authorities at different levels to continue paying more heed to young people.
